Title: Construction at Baptist Prudential Offices (Old Flagler Center)
Post by: acme54321 on August 20, 2025, 12:26:39 PM
Does anyone know what's going on at the back of the parking lot here?  They have cut down all of the trees at the back of the lot and are doing some kind of sitework on the triangle parcel they own between the lot and the Interstate.  It could just be expanding the parking lot but that would be hard to believe since it's never that full.

Might just be a staging area for the apartment construction.

Can you give a better location? I don't know (remember) the location of the "Old Flagler Center," or better describe the site you are talking about?

I don't think so.  It was the staging area for that but those apartments have been completed for a while now, and they didnt cut down any of the trees for that.

What got my attention was that they have recently removed a bunch of decent sized oak trees that used to line the back of the lot.  Then i noticed the sitework going on behind it, whatever that may be.

Ah, thanks. I forgot about these buildings, even attended a meeting or two with consultants there, back in the day.

Whatever they are doing, they aren't building new buildings. Nothing back there has gone through DDRB in recent years.

Checked tax rolls.  Property owned by Baptist.  Looking at the odd shape, access, abutment to I-95 and the existing parking lot, I would guess they are expanding their parking lot.  Probably growing # of employees as Baptist keeps expanding.

Ahh, yes, more surface parking. I was just thinking the area needed some more.

Following up on this riveting saga. There is a giant pile of stormwater vaults out there now. So I'm guessing they're going to pave the rest of the vacant land.
