Citizen Input Needed for Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a staged multi-year program of transportation projects to be implemented during the next five-year period in the North Florida TPO area. The 2025/26-2029/30 TIP encompasses over $4 billion in investments. Those interested in offering comments may do so in our survey or during one of our virtual meetings at publicinput.com/2025tip (http://publicinput.com/2025tip) .
Please see https://northfloridatpo.com/planning/tip (https://northfloridatpo.com/planning/tip) for details. Comments must be submitted by June 2.

The TIP identifies all regionally significant transportation projects requiring Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and/or Federal Transit Administration (FTA) approval. The TIP also includes a listing of projects that are financed with non-federal dollars which assists local governments within the TPO area with their transportation planning efforts.  Projects listed in the TIP include recommended improvements consistent with the approved Long Range Transportation Plan, and the adopted comprehensive plans of member local governments within the TPO area. The TIP is adopted following input from member governments, transportation agencies, the TPO committees and the public.

The North Florida TPO is the independent regional transportation planning agency for Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties. The agency leads our region's efforts in planning, funding and mobilizing resources to develop and maintain our transportation system.  Plans and programs include the regional Long Range Transportation Plan; five-year Transportation Improvement Program; annual traffic count and mobility reports; coalitions for Smart North Florida and Clean Fuels; freight mobility; and public private partnerships. The TPO is governed by a 15-member board of elected officials and transportation agency representatives.  Learn more at www.northfloridatpo.com (http://www.northfloridatpo.com)

Take some time and look at the Draft TIP and provide your comments to the the TPO (and share here, if you like).

Since it is not at all intuitive, let me share the steps I took to actually look at some projects

use this link: https://northfloridatpo.com/planning/tip  (https://northfloridatpo.com/planning/tip)

under Resources, select "Interactive TIP Reports and Maps"

select the "Projects" tab

At the top of the page, next to the NFTPO logo, make sure it says "Draft Transportation Improvement Program"
If it does not, hit the "Choose" button, and select "Draft Transportation Improvement Program 26-30"

The drop downs above the project list are fairly explanatory. Unfortunately, the "Project Type" has about a gazillion different types, and the "Roadway" group is after a very lengthy "Other" list. Happy scrolling.

Click on a project in the List to find more info about it. Here, you will get a map, and a breakdown of cost by Phase, Fund Source, and Years.

If you want to make a comment on the project, click the "Add Comment" button.

Alternatively, at the same link, you could select the DRAFT FY 2025/26 - 2029/30 TIP link in the middle of the page, to get the actual TIP document. Skip to page 42 of the document to start seeing projects. Here, the listing gives most of the information (minus the map) provided when you select a project in the interactive list. Make a note of the seven-digit project numbers of the projects you want to comment on. Then enter that number in the interactive tool in the "ENTER ID" box
