A look at a plan to renovate an existing five story parking garage to include more than 10,000 square feet of ground floor along Beaver Street. A part of Gateway Jax's proposed Pearl Street District development, the Block N5 garage project will seek Downtown Development Review Board conceptual review approval on July 11, 2024.

I can't believe they're keeping that lighthouse (well, I can, as Alex has been saying for years that he wanted to). I kind of love it.

Wow, this project keeps getting better. I really hope we can make this one happen.

I could be wrong, but IMO they wouldn't have even publicized the conceptual unless the rest is going to be built; however, I understand it (the parking garage for gateway) has to be completed first to have "firm hope" without any convictions that this whole Gateway/Pearl Street development will be built.

The parking garage is already there

In the rendering, it looks like maybe more of a round "observation deck."  Are there interior stairs in it like a real lighthouse would have  ;D?

Looks, to me, like they are just painting out the black strips and removing the cross at the top.

How many parking spaces will be converted to the retail space? I note the Beaver Street entrance to the garage will be removed.

Hmmm; didn't know that final approval of the Gateway Project had been enacted. Was anyone else aware or just missed it? In case you all missed the info/media relative to the final approval, you can read and review it here: https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/news/2024/aug/13/council-grants-final-approval-to-incentives-for-first-phase-of-gateway-jax-development/ - I think it's cool and super that finally someone is not only banking on the North Bank of downtown, but also the far stretches at the North end instead of on the Riverfront. It looks like all is a go "banking" on approval of the permits.

My bad, I meant renovated; I was well aware that the Parking Garage was already there/completed; wrong use of words LOL. Senior moments worrying my nerves at times. But I'm alright; I'm ok; I'll be alright.
