Named for Spencer Compton, First Earl of Wilmington, Wilmington is the largest city in North Carolina that is located within the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor. Incorporated on February 20, 1739, Wilmington grew to become an important port that played a critical role in the years leading up to the American Revolution.

Definitely not rocket science. They also just opened up a new convention center on the river a few years ago. Smaller exhibition space than the Prime Osborn but suited for their environment and market. However, there's a significant amount of infill (hotels, office towers, apartments, etc.) going up around it. Just goes to show that size and the amount of money thrown at something aren't necessarily the determining factor on stimulating infill urban development and growth.
