Northbank Renaissance continues.
Extensions and raises for everyone!
Still waiting to build that critical mass, which is necessary to keep venues like this open long term.
^On the positive side, I hear the DIA is planning to RFP the Ford on Bay/Courthouse site in 2018.
And I hear there may be some promising movement on the Berkman 2 site in 2019.
Should go a long way toward helping to create some critical mass to keep downtown businesses solvent.
Things should pick up when the Landing redevelopment project is completed in 2016. That will give the entire Northbank a much needed boost.
Y'all are killing me. :'(
On the bright side, they're ultimately consolidating operations to Underbelly, and even announced a bar/restaurant will be taking the 1904 space. Not the ideal outcome but certainly not the worst.
^I'm just having a good laugh lol!
We are getting to a point where they need to start over with a clean sheet of paper with Downtown. There is no coherent or stable vibe.
It is interesting that Downtown was at its "best" after the fire burned most of the City down. We need to imagine a fresh start like the City faced then as nothing we are doing now is getting us much. Just rip up everything DIA is doing and start over. Likely means a new structure as I posted in the DIA thread just started. Can't be worse than the results we have seen to date.
I hope Deegan can see this forest through the trees. Time for some radical adjustments.
I'd like to believe that this repurposing of the venue could lead to an exciting opportunity for someone else in the core. It's not like the place was hurting for concerts and events.
Perhaps someone can look into utilizing The Snyder Memorial church for this purpose?

The new park will also feature a dunk tank with Lori Boyer in the cage. All proceeds will be donated to the completion of Friendship Fountain.
So they are consolidating concerts to Underbelly and opening a new concept in the space. Doesn't sound like a huge deal one way or the other.

Literally what is the city's plan for Snyder? Why do we permit having literally no use for that building right in the heart of the central business district at the most prominent spot in the city?

CIA black site. It's the only logical explanation.
