huh - not exactly what I predicted for that location.
That said, it's a (somewhat) active place that is usually open 7 days a week. Most of their locations have a Veterinarian's office, which would keep them more active.
I kinda like it!
Nothing adds vibrancy like pups.
Next few years are looking INCREDIBLY strong for Brooklyn, between One Riverside, Trevato's projects, The HUB, Emerald Trail, etc.
Just need to get that damn Skyway connection built.
Speaking of Brooklyn, Greenhouse Bar is my new favorite place. Some of the best, most creative coffee in Jax.
Unfortunately, JTA isn't doing the Skyway connection anymore. Evidently, they believe it costs too much.

Wasn't there a contract in place to do it for only $1.2 million?

Even if the cost was $10 million, this seems like the most obvious, impactful, shovel-ready urban project in JTA's entire portfolio. It instantly doubles the Skyway's utility, and makes it so much easier for downtown residents and workers to get to Brooklyn without having to worry about finding parking, and vice versa with Brooklyn residents and workers heading into the CBD.
Yet $400 million for unproven UAV is economical.
Just unbelievable how many layups we seem to miss.
It's all very silly to me. It's very hard to say anything is too expensive, while desiring to spend hundreds of millions on a project that will serve less people.
Perhaps it is time for new leadership at JTA.

My guess is that the
actual reason is that they keep tricking themselves into thinking the U2C conversion will happen sooner rather than later (because they have essentially secured the money already) and under that framework it doesn't make sense to do the platform rebuild for the existing system if they're going to build an entirely separate station next to it "soon" for the new one anyway.
Of course, in the real world there has been nothing but obvious sign after obvious sign that the technology simply isn't there yet, but they're the transit agency here.

Perhaps it is time for new leadership at JTA.
The current administration confirmed two of the three mayoral appointees on JTA's Board of Directors (Stephanie Burch and Aundra Wallace) to 4-year terms in the last year, while the third (Abel Harding) was appointed the year before. Unless someone resigns, that means the earliest opportunity for the next mayor to make an appointment would be 2025, when Harding's seat is up (and he would be available for re-appointment). The other three appointed seats are selected by the Governor. The board then selects the CEO, who then selects their leadership team.
But anyway, that's enough off-topic, this is about Pet Paradise. Which seems fine, a downtown location will be interesting.

These guys are amazing.
Jacksonville leadership continues to insist on swallowing the big pill instead of the small one... and they find a way to spit it out every time.
Really like this, with the dog park on the roof of the retail bay.

As this area continues to develop, particularly with the Hub coming, still think there's an opportunity to make something pretty cool of Unity Plaza.
