Title: 2022 NAS Jax Air Show Photos
Post by: jaxlongtimer on October 28, 2022, 09:30:49 PM
Nice pix!

Looks like most pix from Sunday which had the clouds.  Saturday was pretty much cloudless so maybe some shots without clouds were then or on Sunday before the clouds built up?

I saw from off-base both days and on Sunday the Blue Angels cut out the high altitude "tricks" (high dives, a straight down diamond breakout, a few more loop-d-loops, etc.) due to the cloud cover.  Also appears they landed from the west when usually they land from the east.  I have seen this before on cloudy days and it knocks about 10 minutes off the show.  Always disappointed when it happens but glad to see what we can.

I had no idea NAS had the perfect downtown skyline view

You are correct.  It wasn't quite captured in the series posted, but the neatest shot with the skyline is when the Blue Angels come straight toward the crowd from the north in their 6 plane delta and then do the breakout with the skyline behind them.  In the series posted, they show the planes before the breakout and another shows the breakout minus the skyline so you don't get the full effect here.
