I'm so excited for this project. It's about time our city recognizes it's rich musical history.
This appears to be happening? The Historical Society held a groundbreaking (https://twitter.com/Jax_History/status/1711455264371552296?s=20) last week.
I've read a couple things about the groundbreaking that make me nervous. First, the fact that they call it a "ceremonial" groundbreaking makes me think that work is not actually commencing in the imminent future. Second, they still have a pretty large gap between the project budget and the funds raised to date. I love that there's activity around this, but I'd like to hear definitive completion dates or milestones. Tedeschi Trucks, Yellowcard, & Quad City DJs kicking off a weekend music festival for the grand opening would be a dream.
