A Google search doesn't return anything from recent years about where that marker is now located. Could the city be holding off until something of significance goes up near there?
Bueller? Did I not ask in the right thread topic?
I just googled it as cowford historical marker site jacksonville fl and several possibilities came up, including a photo of the marker. At least one article said the marker was located in the Duval County Courthouse, but unknown if they referred to the old courthouse that was torn down or the concrete palace that took its place downtown. Hope this helps.
It was probably at the old courthouse site as the general consensus is the actual cow ford was at the foot of Liberty St.
Sorry, I missed this question. I did some research on this for my book, Secret Jacksonville. The marker was at the old courthouse on Bay right at the corner Liberty. It was taken down when the building was demolished in 2019. Presumably it'll be put back up if something is actually done with the site, or moved elsewhere.
Appreciate the responses, I understand these get lost in the shuffle. I remember it from years past at the old courthouse location, but street view only provides the actual post holding it up being the last piece of it that existed as recent as January 2021. I had wondered if it'd ever turn up like the marker at Memorial Park had recently, but I suppose only time will tell. Thanks again!
