John Rutherford is, for sure, a certified full Trump-y. He voted against both Congress having a 50/50 Republican/Democrat commission to investigate the 1/6/21 Capitol insurrection and was one of only 63 who voted against the Asian Anti-Hate bill. Continues a string of disappointing votes.
He is a straight line Trump drone - no longer thinks independently or for the interests of the country. Very disappointing for a formerly so-called "moderate" sheriff who one would expect to stand up for "law and order."

Yeah, voting against an investigation into the 1/6 seditionist insurrection, in which the Capitol police were under direct attack, isn't exactly 'backing the Blue'.
Rutherford has become an embarrassment to the city and to himself. Voting to overthrow the results of the election was sedition as much as the attack on the capitol.
It's almost - almost - like we have a leadership problem in this city.

Honestly, that stunt was a bigger coup attempt than the actual coup attempt, which happened because Rutherford and his fellow Trumpists promoted this baseless lie. And then of course he votes to oppose a bipartisan commission to look into the coup he encouraged through his words and actions. He disgraced the Constitution and his own increasingly tattered reputation as an LEO.

DeSatan's legislation makes felons out of innocent citizens found guilty by association. Hate crime bills simply allow additional penalties for certain crimes. Not the same thing at all.

I took issue with Florida's anti-riot legislation as it was out of proportion with what actually happened here. Nothing I saw or read about rose to the level of necessitating punitive new laws.
Thanks for the explanation why you agree with some and disagree with others. Luckily that's why we vote and discuss... otherwise we just get a party card and vote the party line. You will get the opportunity to vote out Rutherford and DeSantis. Many countries do not afford you the opportunity to dissent, disagree...

If we have to compare ourselves to China and North Korea to look good in comparison, as opposed to other developed western democracies, we're probably not actually doing all that well.

He is a very dangerous man, and seeks to destroy the freedoms that many have given their lives for. Putting people in jail without bail and for not committing a crime in the first place, is NOT anything at all like delineating penalties based on motive. Just as premediated murder is not the same as murder that was not premediated, killing someone for what they are is not the same as killing someone for what they did to you.
