Lake, thanks. Last 3 pics are latest of Cesery project at 3rd & Main. Windows are in on upper floors, and photo of interior space is where the Uptown Market - Springfield's gourmet mini-grocer and deli counter - will be!
That is great that Springfield is getting another pharmacy. Is there not an architectural review board? This building is lacking a lot of basic design. It looks like the contractor designed it.
Springfield's historic district has weird boundaries. Most of the commercial property along 8th & Main (North of 8th) are excluded. Judging from the design, I would assume the pharmacy is probably not within the actual historic district boundary.
I think the overlay enables the city to enforce the historic guidelines in those areas that were originally excluded. In this case, it may have been more of an issue that the original building was very much non-conforming and non-contributing so the design of the "new" building - actually a new facade - wasn't as critical as it could have been. If fact, I believe most would agree that it is a huge improvement.
Cool. I did not realize it was a remodel. Still from an architect's standpoint some simple design elements are lacking ;)

That project is really moving along! Does anyone know about this space? How many apartments will there be? What kind of places ie. square footage, # of bedrooms. Are they upscale, for example with solid surface countertops, or are they more formica and vinyl type of apartments? What will the rent be? How much commerical space will there be? Any idea on the rent for the commerical space?
I know that SHANDS will be renting some of the apartments for temporary housing for people undergoing treatment, any idea how many?
There are 36-39 apartments, and I'm 95% certain all but one will be rented as short-term leases to patients of the UF Proton Therapy Institute - that cancer treatment takes approx 2 months, so patients will have a place to stay that feels more like a temporary home. Interiors are suite/extended-stay like, and are not super "glossy" re: materials.
The commercial space in total is approx 7,500 sq ft. Uptown Market will be taking about 1/2 the space at the corner spot. I think Cesery Cos does have some other leases set or in the works (I remember hearing something about an ice cream shop and a rental management co). Cesery does their own lease-up, so they would have to be contacted directly for facts.
Thanks for the info.
I'm glad that Springfield will be a place where healing happens.
More images of the inside of Premier Pharmacy. The owners investment in the purchase and remodel of this building exceeds $1.3M. Keep 'em coming!

Looks good. I didn't realize that they would be selling products like diapers and mouthwash. They've done a great job with what had been a long abandoned building.
This is really good for the area considering it's positive, new growth along Main St. instead of the usual run-down, abandened commercial buildings that line it. They are building a new Family Dollar in Springfield too right? Also, anyone know what will happen to the Obama Headquarters in Springfield now that the campaign is over?
Hooray for the new business!
Actually Family Dollar is up near Pascos, around 18th Street. I don't think it is open, quite yet. Although the lights are on.
