This project looks AWESOME and what a great location. This will bring some pedestrian level activity to the heart of the corporate office section of Brooklyn.
QuoteThe application shows it could include two food vendor buildings, outdoor courtyard seating, and a design studio with two rooftops for special events.
While it does not specify the food vendor tenants, plans show they could be a coffee shop and street taco shop.
"The HUB is a quaint gathering place composed of open courtyards and covered patios," a description of the project reads. "It's a place to meet friends for coffee and artisanal fare, a refuge from the office grind, a spot to refresh after walking the Emerald Trail, perhaps cocktails and al fresco before the evening's big event."

Is the HUB site the fenced lot next to Arepa Please? This will be quite an activation of the corner.
Coincidentally, I was driving into downtown on Park Street this afternoon. Saw a semi-truck backing into the loading dock at WinLectric, blocking both directions of Park. Will that maneuver still be possible after the road diet?
The definition of infill right here. Watch DDRB complain about the design of a wall facing the six lane Forest Street.
Here's the full presentation of the proposed project:

A vacant lot could become the next infill mixed-use development headed to Brooklyn.

^Is the "full presentation" just the slide shown in the post? That's all I see when I click the link.
Click the link on the front page of the site. Has a ton of renderings.

Just fixed the link.
Thanks, Lake.
It would be interesting to see their simulation of sunlight and shadow through the day and year. I am assuming they did one to make sure they were creating shade in the right places at midday and afternoon.
Regardless of that, right now the thought of sitting outside and eating lunch right now is horrible with the weather. Regardless, please proceed!

I think I'm a bit less heat sensitive than others, but I've been eating outside all summer because of the 'vid, and it hasn't been too bad. River & Post, Mossfire, Memorial Park, Tijuana Flats, Vale, Burrito Gallery, etc. Aside from one incident at Mellow where my Macbook literally shut down to protect itself from melting in the heat, I kinda dig it ;D
Shame it's so hard to find restaurants with ample outside seating downtown.
10 years ago, you had several waterfront restaurants with outdoor seating. Two levels of them actually. Never would have imagined in 2010 that we'd have significantly less in 2020, considering a national decade long boom period of economic growth.

Add Strings to your rotation.
Shaded outdoor seating with fans, great food & beverages.
^Is Strings open for lunch during the week, do you know?
Always looking for more Springfield options.
Crispy's is my normal go-to to post up and work during lunch.
Great infill project! If the food hall project comes to fruition then there will be good options in that area for Brooklyn.

Thought we had another thread on this but apparently not. Looks like Southern Grounds is going to anchor this spot at Riverside and Forest:

Haven't had my coffee yet and I searched in Downtown, not Brooklyn:(
Construction starting in June.

GET THAT DAMN SKYWAY EXPANSION BUILT.
Only costs like two clown cars.
Glad to see this one moving forward. I wonder what's the hold up on the Skyway?
Not as cool as "The Hub" on 30A, but a good start for the area.
couldn't find the more recent thread, but... construction has finally started on this. Port-o-potties are on site, and dirt is moving.
Like a phoenix, good to see after the long wait.

Looking good! Also drove on the new Park Street segment. Like it. Wish they added dedicated bike lanes, but it is a pretty narrow street. Not sure what I think about the little roundabouts. It works, but strange.

I drove it the yesterday, and concur. When I saw the first round-about-ahead sign, not seeing a raised center island, I thought someone screwed up. But, there it was - a tiny slightly raised circle in the middle.

I thought bike lanes were part of the reason for the rebuild... silly me! Maybe due to its proximity to the Emerald Trail, they thought they could leave that out?
The Park St project added a shared use pathway for bikes and pedestrians. From what I can see it's already well in use. There's going to be a lot of private development on this stretch now that it's done.
was curious if Lenox on Park? and Block Nine were waiting for completion.
^My understanding is yes.
They CRUSHED it with this spot. Despite frustrations in the CBD, Brooklyn is cooking.

Really did a great job on this. Looks better than the renderings I remember. Hope they start the Raymond James addition soon.
A shame their opening is on the coldest weekend in decades, makes the outside spaces unappealing. But, it won't be cold forever.
How's the parking?

Outdoor spaces were packed out last night. I couldn't make it, but if you search for the Hub or Alder & Oak on the socials, it was a great scene! I didn't see much dedicated parking, but walked over from RAM. Should def check it out!
Only one suggestion... more chocolate!!! :P

Pretty cool. I didn't realize that they were already open.
Looks awesome. Can't wait to go when it's not the frozen tundra outside.
It looks amazing but it just makes me wish that "Unity Plaza" didn't suck. There is a lot to like in Brooklyn though. It has by far the most density of any of the proper "downtown" segments. Southbank has a good bit too.
