I say, let her go and put Zahn in her place.
This is the season of "Let My People Go" - but I'll play Pharaoh - and say NO!
Seems reasonable to let non-violent offenders out of prison (and into some other form of custody, like house arrest) while this public health crisis is ongoing.
As long as it does NOT count as time served.

I've personally no issue with it counting as time served, assuming the person is on house arrest or in custody of some sort. We're looking at a few months here and it seems, in the scheme of things, it's not a big deal.

+1.
Just put the whole prison on lock down. Problem solved.
Ts and Ps
San Marco Matt #7: I'm sure cats hate you too. They're smarter than you think.
I don't like Brown very much at all (well, I don't know her, so I just have her record and public persona to go on). But we know this virus is potentially fatal and it seems remiss - to say the very least - to intentionally put someone's life at risk. If we take the non-violent offenders and put them in some form of alternative custody (such as house arrest), that not only reduces the risk to them, but it reduces the numbers in the prisons and therefore reduces the ease of transmission. Plus, it reduces the possible impact/strain on the prison infirmaries.
I feel like the biggest critics of Brown reside in the Crenshaw/Rutherford district. Crenshaw was virtually uncontested for all those years, but nobody seems to decry voter apathy in this district. People from Crenshaw's district should probably keep their mouths shut and recognize they have been part of the same problem.
So I sure hope SMM is not a Crenshaw/Rutherford voter if he is going to shit on Corrine Brown.
I believe Corrine Brown has been released to conditional house arrest as of today. I'm glad. What purpose was served by her being in jail at her age. Zahn, the former JEA CEO is still around. He should take her place.

I have no issue with her release. Non violent senior... house arrest is fine. The clear difference was Brown was convicted... Zahn... not yet...
I have no problem with it. Good for her.

Agree on all accounts BT.

Probably teaching her a lesson about all the felonies. It's OK, though, politicians live on a different standard than the rest of us, not many people expect for public figures to pay the same for their crimes as the rest of us
I've decided to stir the pot.....
First I have encountered Corrine Brown on several occasions. She is definitely a show-boater if that's a word, but she was always extremely nice. The last time I ran into her I told her about my nephew and his ordeal with college tuition. Kinda funny but she told me to have him contact her....
And to be clear I DO NOT approve of her behavior and anyone for that matter that commits a felony. But in this case for heaven's sake, someone who commits a non-violent felony should not die in prison? If you don't care about the safety of a human being please stay away from me.
And to REALLY cause a storm how can you complain when we have a person in the White House who has committed crimes that makes hers look like a child stealing a piece of candy from the corner store.
I know you and like you but you just proved my point about concern for humans. Last time I looked Corrine Brown was a human.....
Somehow prove me wrong if you can.
And I'll repeat I do not approve of what she did and going to jail was all on her.

Just curious. What are the crimes the guy in the White House committed that you are referring to?
Some have issues with "convicted" and "accused"... :o

He has none. Let me sum it up, "bad orange man".
He hasn't been tried - so he's also not been acquitted. And even if he were acquitted, that wouldn't mean he hadn't committed a crime, but it would mean there was insufficient evidence to obtain a conviction.
But anyway, he's not been tried (and convicted) - but that doesn't mean he hasn't committed any crimes. I'm not saying he has - but it clearly is an opinion that is held by many. You can say you don't *think* he has committed any crimes, but that's really no different than someone else saying they *think* he has.

So.... just like every president since... well... Washington.

Yeah, probably!
But in the case of Trump - as was the case with Clinton - there is a lot of circumstantial evidence. While I don't underestimate the ability of people to assume the worst about politicians they don't like, I'd say Trump certainly has a done and said some fairly questionable things. "Bad orange man" or no, you didn't see this sort of thing (at least not on this scale) with Bush (though Cheney certainly came in for a lot of criticism).
Trump doesn't do himself any favors and I'd be willing to bet he has some legally-questionable skeletons in his closet. And he's an inveterate liar, not that it is against the law of course (unless you do it under oath, which some Presidents have been known to possibly do).
I'm no fan of Corrine, but with her age and her crimes not being violent, I have no problem with her being released. What is dispicable is that Tampa murderer being released, only to murder again... Now in Broward County, the killer of the slain rapper XXXTentacion is asking for a release, who knows he may get it....What a joke. Florida might be infected from the Northeast or the West, with it's now bleeding heart pure stupidity....

For the record, the Tampa guy was initially being held on nonviolent drug charges, which is why he was eligible to be released. I can't imagine they'll release XXXTentacion's suspected killer.

^^^My bad, I misread. XXX's killer would be more safe in jail that out on the streets.
