According to this recent polling from the Columbia Journalism Review (mind you, not some right wing biased media) trust in the 'authoritative' media has been plummeting. The analysis is in, and the media got ratioed bipartisanly. According to this poll 58 PERCENT of Democrats think that the media has a partisan bias; 90 percent of conservatives think that the media is partisanly biased.

100% agree.
Kind of sickening how the mainstream media is so biased against the right, particularly our President, who at the very least deserves respect for the office he holds.
Really kind of sad how the media constantly finds a way to twist and spin these fairly innocuous stories about the President bribing international leaders to investigate his political opponents, or the President banning reporters who ask legitimate questions, or the President kicking transgender soldiers out of the military, or the President blasting out tweets calling women pigs and quoting Mussolini for support, or the President helping the Saudis cover up the murder of a journalist, or the President withdrawing us from the Paris Agreement and setting environmental progress back 50 years, or the President defending white power groups, or the President joking about Epstein's fondness for young women, or the President using orphaned children from mass shootings for publiclity photos while tossing paper towels at Puerto Ricans, or the President paying off a "horsefaced" porn star, or the President starting a war with the NFL, or the President separating hysterical immigrant children from their families, or the President hiding his tax returns and trying to use international meetings to fill his own hotel rooms.
By the way the media is spinning things in 2019, you'd almost think that the guy was in the middle of an impeachment inquiry or something, and that federal judges were chastising him for flagrantly ignoring 250 years of American precedent and behaving like he fancied himself a king above all rule of law.
Sometimes if a group does shitty things, and the media reports on it accurately, it's easier to blame the media than it is to look in the mirror and accept the fact that things ain't going great for the home team.

Perception isn't necessarily reality.
Our perception of the media is mostly influenced by where we stand politically. Most of my friends are Trumpites and complain about the "mainstream media". I think Fox news started it all. They were ran by ex-GOP head Roger Ailes and were/are biased. Some of the mainstream media are biased by the way they report stories that seem to be accurate, but reported in a biased way. To me, people who only watch news on Fox seem to be completely brainwashed. Years ago the University of Maryland did a study on people who watch TV news and found that Fox viewers were clueless on history, government, and current events.

I find confirmation bias affects most, if not all, people. Some tend to be more self-aware and are able to recognise it. Some aren't so much. Then there's the issue of cognitive dissonance, which affects us all as well.
That's not to say that the various media outlets don't have their different biases - but it's likely that the perceived bias (where there is bias present) is likely to be either exaggerated or minimised depending on the observer's personal beliefs.
The partisan leftist gatekeepers and attack dogs only defend the bullshit mainstream propaganda, because 98 percent of this 'news' currently says "Orange Man Bad" 24 hours, 365 days of the year, and that aligns with their ideology. That's why according to one of the most leftist colleges in the US, 58 percent of Democrats think that the MSM is bullshit; Could it be that their confidence in the media is damaged when they said that Trump had no chance in hell of winning the 2016 election? Could it be that most of the country realizes that this impeachment is just a partisan kangaroo court that will ultimately hurt Democrats in the long run?
The MSM is BS, and should be fact checked on everything that they say. The news used to be news (for the most part), now it's just multiplied opinion pieces disguised as news. Are their real journalists out there? Yes! Are the overwhelming majority of them in either alternative media or retired (MSM)? IMO yes! People like Ted Koppel and Lara Logan are some of the very few real journalist (retired) that aren't partisan leftist shills.
The idea that I'm joined at the hip to Fox News and only conservative talking points is outright BS, because Fox is also mainstream media. I'll watch a clip of Fox News on youtube every once in a while here and there (also CNN and MSNBC to troll them, as they seemingly always get ratioed). I watch people in the alternative media that are on the LEFT and HATE Trump. People Like 'Tim Pool' (a real liberal that calls out the MSM BS), and 'We Are Change' (a group that's been everywhere from Somalia to Epstein's Island).
Do you think that CNN is gonna do an expose about Epstein's Island, and the people on the flight manifest??? Or a Fox News pundit interacting with you on social media? Or MSNBC giving Tulsi Gabbard a fair amount of time during the Democratic Debate? No chance.
Political affiliation has no bearing on the disinformation that the media spews. Dem vs Rep is a misdirection, the real "versus" match is the people versus the influencers, who are currently politicians and corporate types.
Politics is an extension of the media, it's an entertainment source, nothing more. Don't get played by "left vs right" the democrats and the republicans will fuck you over for money any day of the week, as will private corporate interests, as will the media.
Trump is a symptom, not the root disease.
^^^Bingo! I especially liked that you said "the real opposition is the people (like independent content creators on social media) vs the influencers (the mainstream media seven-figure pundits that are bought off).
CNN got ratioed overwhelmingly by people on the left (link below). CNN had a bunch of randomly picked Iowa voters *cough cough paid actors* on a panel to say which Democratic candidates that they like. The CNN subscribing progressive viewers at home noticed that CNN was pushing the candidates Klobuchar, Warren and Biden, but suppressing Yang and Bernie; they weren't pleased.
In the past, CNN was caught rehearsing "voters" on the panel in a similar situation (link below). Finally even the far left wakes up and realizes that CNN is BS. FDR carried Iowa in 1932 and 1936 - granted, that was over 80 years ago, but it's not crazy to imagine a definitely non-commie like Sanders managing to win over the voters in middle America.

Meanwhile, here in Jax our paper of record was instrumental in uncovering the JEA controversy, despite years of budget cuts and layoffs.
^^The comment section (first link) full of progressives is what I was talking about (not relating to the candidates). The second link obviously shows a person on a similar panel (like on the first link) being coached to say the CNN propaganda; I don't know how anyone could say otherwise (unless you work for CNN).

Fair point. Although the DNC (in collusion with the leftist media IMO) are known for pushing out candidates that don't align with the neoliberal agenda; Bernie Sanders (in 2016) and how Tulsi Gabbard is treated in the debates is well documented. The CNN subscribers weren't feeling that video with the Iowa voters. CNN has a history of coaching panels (like on the second link). So who's to say that this 2019 panel wasn't coached?

Russian bot and trolls post to comments sections, that means nothing. And no there isn't any 'coaching' going on in that 2nd clip.
Tulsi Gabbard is an interloper that is being propped up by the opposition.
^^^Nope!!! Many are Democratic voters. It's so obvious to tell from a Trump supporter from a Democratic voter. CNN doesn't have hegemony over the entire left....
The "Muh Russia" BS narrative is so played out that even most Dems don't say it anymore.... China is the real threat, and Dems finally are forced to address that (with Trump's successful stance on trade).
Remember when I made that outspoken post about China? How have my opinions held up? Pretty damn good...
Attempted Hong Kong extradition treaty
Falun Gong organ harvesting
Uyghurs in concentration camps

Far fetched South China Sea water disputes with neighboring countries (Vietnam, the Philippines etc)
Militarized artificial islands in South China Sea

I only watched the video against my better judgment. I'm damn sure not reading any YouTube comments.
That's fine, you do have to read the comments. The commenters are somehow all far right extremist and Russian bots; mass coordinating and thumbs downing CNN videos all out of spite.... Nevermind CNN's all time record low ratings....
No offense to anyone, but if you are a left leaning person from the Greatest generation or a Baby Boomer (or even older Gen X), it's understandable to have a high trust of the media, I get it. Anyone else on either side of the spectrum (young Gen X, Millennials etc) I just don't get it....TV and cable are dying medias. Everything that is exciting and unbiased is on the internet.
Notable news don't have to come from a 7 figure shill pundit (on left or right) reading a teleprompter. Do yourself a favor (anyone on the left) and watch a David Pakman youtube video, or something; I TOTALLY don't agree with him, but he's more entertaining and true telling than CNN, MSNBC etc. There are plenty of people on the left on youtube.
When the famous Sinclair News (right leaning media) video compilation came out a couple of years ago, everyone said that it was propaganda (rightfully so). When the leftist news media does the same thing multiplied time 100,000 every single day 24/7 (Orange Man Bad, and dreams of a successful impeachment) that's supposed to be okay and normal? Nah Jack!

Except that's not the case. Scepticism works both ways - you need to apply it to all sources of news, not just the ones saying things you don't like. The mainstream media has made plenty of mistakes - but that doesn't mean everything that appears in the news is made up. Some idiot with a YouTube channel can say whatever he wants, with no attribution or evidence, and some people will just lap it up.
^^^Okay, so a very smart person on youtube (some idiot as you say) can give their takes about political issues, use various forms of media that they trust the most, and even some legacy media when they rarely tell the truth (use the left AND right political spectrums), gets information a lot quicker than the dinosaur media, and actually be interesting with a personality (not reading from a teleprompter).
Adam, do you know what corrupts news organizations? The all mighty dollar. When a pundit is bought off, they will do anything to appease sponsors; one wrong thing said, you lose your sponsor moolah. News youtubers and sponsorships aren't a must, like the MSM is. Appeasing political parties for whatever partisan media is also an issue (when ratings are at stake).
There's a reason why Columbia University polled the media as unreliable by people on both sides. The cat is outta the bag, and that cat is well hidden four miles deep into the woodline.
If the left had their version of Project Veritas; exposing people on the right as phonies etc, it would've been celebrated by all of the leftist legacy media as very effective with it's grassroots exposes, and truly a great whistleblowing organization; they would be on Time magazine like Greta.
Since Project Veritas is on the right, it's all "fill in the blank ad hominem attacks because it doesn't align with my political viewpoint" Use one dimensionality to demonize PV (because they might have got one thing wrong, the upteen times correct, be damned!!!) All PV does is just sit back on hidden camera, and give Dems and leftists the rope to hang themselves, and that's what often happens. It's literally the anti-propaganda. What's said on video 9.5 times out of 10 is very paramount (so you can't say 'muh out of context')
I know that all of the left wish they had something as effective as PV, you all would love it (but since you leftists are looking at the tip of the arrow, be hypocritical of course).

They all make mistakes but come on when one of the main news stories on Fox on Dec 24th was about how over 200 Evangelical groups are ready to "tar and feather" a publication that writes an editorial stating that Trump should be impeached and removed it feeds right into the radical right wing agenda. I'm no defender of Fox News, so any talk about me defending Fox will fall of deaf ears. I just excluded Fox (which is MSM) because a person on the left doesn't watch it. You can blame Trump for the overall distrust in the MSM if you wanna, but I know better. Trump just told the truth when he realized that the left leaning media is just an extension of the Democratic Party.
The MSMs outright leftward bias had my attention all the way back in freaking 2012 (when Obama divided the country racially, religiously, and by economic class in his second term); it didn't take Trump (the constant leftist talking point) for me to realize that the MSM is BS.
News to you, Fox isn't an exclusive evangelicon media....The idea that some people like Tucker Carlson, Chris Wallace and Juan Williams being "evangelicons" is hilarious to me....The BS colluding leftist media is trailing Fox News in the ratings, so what that says about those news channels? Trump is more of a "common sense business Democrat" than the radical anti-business (because of muh climate change) DNC socialist candidates are.
Bottomline the MSM is BS; if they wanna be trusted, they should stop lying so much. I think that it's funny that the WaPo and HuffPo is hemorrhaging, and jobs are being lost, because they are all liars. The leftist MSM is the credibility of Buzzfeed and Salon (which is no credibility). So screw the MSM; alternative media is the only hope for real news.
Enough. Back to your corners, and your holiday celebrations.

The Nazi perps faces would be plastered everywhere, and all of the race hustling organizations (ADL, SPLC etc) would have to come out and denounce etc.
