Mayor Lenny Curry describes the proposed Lot J development as "a transformational project" and a "game changer." But will it live up to expectations, or will it be just another in a long line of game changers that have failed to change the game?

In my opinion, all of this "mess" that the city and Shad Kahn are proposing or soon constructing at Lot J, is too far removed from the downtown core. And...why have all of that "mess" up against and "around" the stadium or stadium lots? Why not construct all of that "mess" closer to the downtown core so its accessible to everyone and not just Jaguar fans and businesses that Kahn has lured there? And...what about the skyway? I haven't heard much about if they do start constructing at Lot J, and all of this "mess" is built, whether the skyway will be extended; people are not, and will not walk from the downtown core to the stadium district...I know, they will be smart enough to drive to Lot J and take advantage of all that mess; but someone had better tap curry or Kahn on the shoulder and let them know that part of the success of the mess, is extending the skyway from the downtown core over to the mess...but you're still leaving the downtown core generally starved and empty though there are projects underway that might ease the steam valve of nothing to do in the traditional downtown core. It just seems so wrong, the Landing thing (wrecking ball demolition), with no plan to replace it with any type of retail, residential, office, etc. in that spot, or even to add much more to Jax's 9 to 5, dead weekend and nights downtown core. Yes, Jax is the only major city downtown in Florida with no substantial or real boom whatsoever, and what a damn shame. Even much smaller cities like Sarasota, Lakeland, Fort Myers, and many others are light years ahead of Jacksonville's downtown core and we're a city of close to a million souls. Shuffling, moving, and slamming everything east next to the stadium, in my opinion, is not the answer. It appears that Shad Kahn wants his own little downtown core and f**k the traditional downtown core, LET IT ROT! That's what it seems like he is thinking and what he has conjured Lenny Curry to do and go along with. I hope someone in Jax will soon wake up, smell the meth or coffee (whichever they are doing, meth for the ones making stupid decisions, coffee for the ones that make the right decisions and want to get to work!!), and make us the 1 million people city that we claim to be (we're on the verge YAY!). - HEIGHTS
