Located adjacent to where the Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Air Line and St. Johns Terminal Company railroads came together, New Town emerged as a result of rapid growth of Jacksonville's African-American population following the Great Fire of 1901.

Very interesting article about an area I've driven through many times without having a clue about the history.  Thank you.

I love driving through neighborhoods and seeing buildings like the house on Logan Street, brings back the past of the area.   Red Bank plantation house and building 27 on NAS Jacksonville (that aligns to the old Black Point street grid) are my favorites.
