Sandwiched between the tidal saltwater marshes of the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve and the St. Johns River, Heckscher Drive is not only one of the most scenic thoroughfares in Jacksonville, it is also one that highlights the unique environmental and cultural characteristics that make the First Coast special. Here, everything from recreational fishing, beaches, fish camps, seafood markets, waterfront restaurants and shipbuilding to Pre-Columbian Timucua, Gullah Geechee, Civil War and maritime history all combine to provide an authentic taste of the region.

I absolutely love going out Heckscher Dr. I just hope they never allow the over building that has occurred in other coastal areas. There is something magical about the scenery. Ft. George inlet always looks so green and the marshes look so serene. It is one of our most prized possessions. I try to drive out every month. Thanks.
