Awesome article. It really blows my mind how much history is associated with our city yet we do the bare minimum to reflect it.

Having lived in Atlanta in an earlier life, and being firmly corrected on the pronunciation of Houston Street - in the ATL it is House-ton, nothing like that city in Texas Hughs-ton.  Which is correct here?

Seems to be the "House-ton" family in this area. They had/have land on Black Hammock Island.

In NYC its House-ton too.  It seems the only Hughs-ton is the one in texas.
