I'd repeatedly heard the story of how the Beatles refused to play for a segregated audience at the Gator Bowl in 1964, but had never before heard the story of Marian Anderson at the Armory in 1952.  Remarkable for both her convictions and courage and the fact that there isn't more public awareness of this story.
