Can they please make the track longer?  Running a mile on there will make you sick from all the spinning.

The new rooftop space sounds amazing.

Such a beautiful facility.

I wonder if they ever ended up putting the parking lot/old site on the market.

No and I doubt they ever will.  Another classic Jacksonville bait and switch.

I think they will sell.....for the right amount. The issue is the right amount in their eyes and market reality aren't necessarily the same thing.

I cancelled my membership when they were in the final years of the old building. The place was way too overcrowded. You had to get into a queue basically to get near any equipment. And good luck getting near the basketball court or lap pool.

Is it any better at the new site?

I joined after the new building was completed, so I'm not sure how bad it was to compare it, but it is still pretty crowded at peak times. I have never had to wait in line to get to any equipment. At most I've had to wait for the person using the machine to be done.

No kidding. I really wish it was the size of the UNF gym's indoor track; that was much nicer. It would probably be cost prohibitive, but I think they could extend the track around the elevator and basketball court if they wanted to.

NAI Hallmark was marketing the site, yes.

Curious if this new expansion will use some of that existing parking lot space?

I love this Y but it can be crowded.  The Basketball Gym is great but can someone turn down the horn it is currently set on Maddison Square Garden volume.

Wonder if it would be so crowded if the Y hadn't shut down their Arlington location?

I worked at the old Yates YMCA as lifeguard in the early 90's and that place was super crowded back then. The pool should have been a UNF sized facility to begin with. I was there when it almost burned down from a faulty electric pencil sharpener...they missed the chance to REALLY expand back then!
