An individual was shot at least 2 times at the intersection of Hogan and Water Streets at 11:20 PM this evening as he left the Landing. According to a witness, the shooter shot first, and then robbed him of a Blackberry and $15.
was alchohol involved?
"the shooter shot first"????
so - the victim shot back?
WOW!!! what going on in this city :o
That sucks. Senseless violence is so scary cause, i mean, theres not much you can do to prevent it.
Driven1, I understood it as the shooter first shot and then he robbed. As opposed to a typical hold up/mugging gone awry.
I was wondering what the helicopter was looking for last night..
remember if you have any information about this crime call crimestoppers. JSO needs all the help it can get, they are short-staffed, underfunded and greatly overwhelmed by the out of control crime in Jacksonville.
I dont know if its related, but last night around 11:40 the police were all around my house in Springfield, helicopter, cops with dogs running down the alley next to my house, lots of police activity on 4th st right behind me. It was action packed.
You must live right near me... I was watching the Sox game and heard the helo all around me. I was torn between looking out the window or watching the Sox comeback.. I guess from my posts you can tell what I watched...
Quotewas alcohol involved?

Boy this really sucks. If it were me being robbed, it would force the cataclysmic decision of throwing my bottle of Rebel Yell at the bum (so limited alcohol would be involved), but he ain't getting the Southern Comfort!OCKLAWAHA
I can't find anything about this shooting on Jacksonville.com or news4jax.com. Perhaps this is a bogus?

Yes, like the time 2 weeks ago when 2 cops came to my door and bitched me out for me and 9 friends talking too loud at 9:30pm in my fenced in patio. Its a good thing they came to put me in my place, they said they could hear us talking from the street!!! Who knows what might have happened, had they not come!
You mean they got out of their car????? :o

Of course not. Sometimes the Sox take the lead early on.

I'm always ranting about "the man" here but damn if this doesn't remind me of a scene from the movie "Letters From Iwo Jima. When The Kempeitai spread a little neighborhood spirit by helping a war widow put up her flag, then decided to shoot her dog to make a point. Are we there yet? More and more I understand my friends in foriegn countries, who always want to know how it is to live in America - because it's so dangerous. OCKLAWAHA

An adequately funded and staffed JSO would work wonders for downtown. Until City Hall decides to get it's priorities straight, downtown will continue to be a dangerous place. Even I've had about enough of it.
BTW, the surveillance camera plan is still on line. The devil, as always, is in the details.

What would alchohol have to do with it?
Never mind I forgot it was Godly to carry a gun, but "of the Devil," to drink alcohol, even moderately....
I'm bad.....

"Downtown a dangerous place" Now that is rich.
it seems to me that the title of this thread should be changed...it is very misleading to what reportedly occurred.
btw...in other Landing News...Bourbon Bayou has been replaced by the Coach's Corner Sports Bar....still the same owners...just a different concept.
Jerry, what does the sign say in your avatar? It's been driving me crazy. I even had my kids look at it but none of us could tell what it said.
hehe yeah i've always wondered that too. It says something something downtown I believe, but i haven't blown it up in....photoshop or anything, hmmmmmm....
::two minutes later::
oh oh oh i know what it is, but i'm not stealing jerry's thunder.
the sign says Make a Scene Downtown....

i feel very sorry for that guy. he needs love, not ridicule. i don't care about his past or where he has defecated. he is obviously hurting and being taken advantage of in that picture.
