This is great news.
"Walking trails?" Uh.....OK.
This just went out for sub bids today.
Works for me! Hopefully these guys turn this area around with these complexes. That part of Philips needs all the help it can get.
It's good to see these coming in. Hopefullly it'll be a catalyst for some improvement on the north end of the hooker highway.
Here's a shot looking north at a bit of the construction

There's an excavator on the San Marco Crossing site, they might be getting ready to start demo of the houses currently on site.
They already taken out several single family homes, including one I owned a few years ago. From what I can see all that's left are the First Assembly of God structures, which are pretty big.
Looks like construction is in full swing now. They are tearing down the church now and appear to be starting site work on other areas. Lots of excavators on site.
And where will these folks go grocery shopping?
Is there room in the big industrial mall at Philips and Emerson for a nice grocery store?

I heard Trader Joes was interested.

They will suffer like the rest of us and have to go maybe 3 miles to Publix,Fresh Market,Winn Dixie, or Walmart. Brutal...but we manage.
High Class Problem. Few have moved away due to such "Hardship".
Great Place!!
Looks like the site plan for San Marco Crossing has changed some. Looks like they've eliminated the townhomes and expanded the size of the southern building. I guess they were able to purchase those hold out properties.
^I believe townhomes are proposed on the west side of Perry Place.

Sorry, forgot to link JDR article I was looking at: https://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/article/construction-underway-for-san-marco-crossing-apartments
You're right, originally they were showing townhomes along the west side of Perry Place but they are missing from that latest rendering. Also the building on the south side of Bertha St was originally jsut in the center of the block.
I would love to see an elevated pedestrian walkway connecting the Exchange, Barlow and the San Marco Promenade with FEC park. Not sure how RSSM would feel about such a thing, though.
huh?

A perk of not getting gas very often these days is the periodic blast of amazement I see when I pull in to Daily's. Yeah, this development is something Southside Blvd would find in its couch cushions, But I consider this project yuuuuuuuuge for the area with it's legit walkability to the Square....especially if a certain Regency project would ever get built. Southern Grounds may need a second story.
This article is a bit old but some info on the name change.

Cheap perk for residents would be them pitching in some $$$$ for the San Marco beach buggy.

Or just walk around to River Oaks.
It's nice to see a few neighborhoods of downtown doing well in spite of City Hall's efforts to screw it up.
