While I understand he's probably been aggressive, I haven't seen any indication that he's negatively affecting the city with his behavior.
What do the Democrats have to offer that Curry doesn't? They had four years, and did effectively nothing with it. What reason do we have to give them another four? And especially now, without Curry serving another term?
It's good to see the Dems are presenting a challenge. The sharp elbowed style employed by Curry and some of his staff are the worst things about this administration. Challenge and competition keeps politicians from getting too complacent or acting as if they've got more of a mandate than they really do, and hopefully leads them to do better (or lose their seat, as happened to Alvin Brown).
But I have no idea what local Dem could present a real challenge to Curry, either at the ballot box, or actually on the job. It's an extremely weak bench.
