Considering buying or leasing a unit at City Place. Anyone have experience with this building recently or currently living there? Work and go to school downtown and think the convenience may be worth the move.
Any insight is appreciated.
I lived there for 2 years. Leased a studio facing the river on the 15th floor. As with any condo it's highly dependent on your neighbors above / on your floor, landlord and unit. Overall I enjoyed my time there.
My unit was fully furnished and renovated, so it was very modern and had all of the features you'd expect in an apartment today (wood floors, granite countertops, plenty of storage, etc. The only thing you'll have to deal with that's mildly annoying is the laundry room. It only happened to me twice in two years, but someone in a rush took my wet clothes out of the washer and put them on the ledge...
Parking isn't included, so you can either risk street parking (the city cracks down HARD on this area) they will ticket you seconds after 8am. This must be the first Street they start on every morning because, it never failed I'd come out to a ticket if I was downstairs at 8am on the dot. There is a lot you can pay for, but I never did. I just took the 10 or so parking tickets I got as it was cheaper than monthly rates.
The building is really cool, if you're into historical buildings. There's a basement and there's actually a clubhouse on the roof. I was only able to access the clubhouse once though because security forgot to lock the door. I don't know why they don't use it / "forbidden" to access it. The views are amazing.
The elevators can be slow during peak times since there are only two. It's no worse than most other skyscrapers imo. At most you'll wait a minute or two on the rare occasion someones moving in/out during peak times.
I know I listed some negatives, but just trying to give you things to be aware of. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll answer them!
By far the best value in Downtown Jax. I can help you write an offer if interested.
I crashed on someone's floor there after a Halloween party in '08. Seemed nice from my perspective.
Great floors?
