Title: Hello...Have Some Questions about Berkman, San Marco Place and Peninsula
Post by: jagsfan32092 on October 13, 2008, 12:13:27 PM
I started the thread "Hello from Berkman Plaza".  Well, I also looked at the San Marco Place and Peninsula and impressed with both of them.  The Berkman has the nice green area, which the other two are lacking but the Peninsula and San Marco Place are by a park.

Who on this board lives in any of these condos?  Do you like it, would you recommend the move?  How long have you lived there, are the people in these places cool to hang out with?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Just looked at a unit at Berkman 1 and I yes there are assesments due to water "problems". I am curious also about the "deals" and I understand it's the market, etc. but have to wonder if there are any other reasons. The one bedroom I looked at was originally sold for $250's and then 3 years later $225ish and now THOUSANDS less. Hmmm.... Not sure about the area. We do have kids (this unit has a "den" to use as a 2nd b'room) which is also a concern in a somewhat transitional neighborhood.

Not sure if it is a good investment. How's the Peninsula and San Marco? Maybe the other side of the river is more convenient?

I live at SMP.  The units here are very nice.  In fact, I think they have nicer finishes than what I have seen in pics from the Peninsula.

Our HOA fees are less than the Peninsula because our amenities are not as nice.  Personally,  I would rather have lower fees as long as the building is nice.  I don't really need a conceirge and some of the other bells and whistles.

The views from this bldg are just as good as the Peninsula in my opinion.  Nice river and/or downtown views.

The people here are a mix.  Some older owners, some younger renters, and everything in between.

SMP does have some chilled water issues that they are still struggling to figure out and they are working through some "growing pains" with the board membership.  But I guess that crap goes on in most associations.

Good luck to you!
