Title: The "Fish Camp" brand, all Jax
Post by: spuwho on July 02, 2017, 11:40:02 PM
The concept of a "Fish Camp" seems to be a Jacksonville or Florida way of naming a seafood eatery on the water.

Well one local operator seems to be taking that concept to the market in a bigger way.

Fish Camp Inc. is the owner of several seafood oriented restaurants here in NE Florida.

Not only do they operate the namesake North Beach Fish Camp (Neptune Beach), Julington Creek Fish Camp and the Palm Valley Fish Camp.

But they are also the operator of Marker 32 on Beach Boulevard on Palm Cove and the Safe Harbor Seafood under the Beach Boulevard - Intercoastal bridge next to the 2nd Avenue Boat Launch.

Bringing a new concept to seafood and beach cooking through the "fish camp" style, it's possible Jacksonville could be hatching yet another national seafood approach.

Columbus, Ohio used to be considered the birth place for many food chains, but recently it seems greater Jax could be catching up.

".................cooking through the "fish camp" style..............."

Well I've been to one of these fish camp named places.  I've been to fish camps on the river.  There is a big gap between the fish camp style big city restaurant and a real fish camp in the country.  What is it specifically that the city people is fish camp style?  sea food by the water?

How about nasty, battered and fried food?

^I've been to fish camp restaurants in the country that had the same frozen Chinese fish you get in the city, and restaurants in "the city" that serve only fresh catch. Location isn't everything when it comes to quality.

True.

I'm a vegetarian - but even before I went veggie, I didn't like fish at all (other than tuna, which I loved). I never liked seafood in general. I've been to a couple "fish camps" and was always surprised at how brown all the food was.

HobNob Fish Camp. Was there today. Bathrooms still locked.  Unity Plaza-It's not just a retention pond. Fed the fish in the garbage filled retention pond. I'm bringing my fishing pole.

Who's next?

I mean, aren't the originals Whitey's and Clark's?  And, didn't they actually offer campsites?
