I think it is confusing that these two roads have such similar names. People may get an address that says "St. Augustine Rd" and wonder which road it is actually on, or drive on the wrong road to look for it. Also I've heard plenty of people incorrectly referring to the St. Augustine Road that you turn on from San Jose Blvd near Bolles as "Old St. Augustine Road".
I kind of feel the same way about World War One and World War Two. And it doesn't help that they both contain Germans! I mean, seriously, wtf?
I'll agree that it is a bit confusing, but it's not that unusual. At least we don't have to deal with:
Peachtree Street
Peachtree Creek Road
Peachtree Lane
Peachtree Avenue
Peachtree Circle
Peachtree Drive
Peachtree Plaza
Peachtree Way
Peachtree Memorial Drive
New Peachtree Road
Peachtree Walk
Peachtree Park Drive
Peachtree Parkway
Peachtree Valley Road
Peachtree Battle Avenue
Peachtree Dunwoody Road
Old Peachtree Road

As a kid, I always had a difficult time with the baseball and football teams in St Louis being called the Cardinals.
I would hear people talk about the St Louis Cardinals. And I would not know if it was the baseball team or the football team.
Like if someone said, "we're going to watch the St Louis Cardinals" it was very confusing.
None of this competes with the whole Dylan McDermott or Dermot Mulroney thing.

How about Peter O'Toole and Roddy McDowall? How perfect are those names?

Man, and seriously, 'Volcano' and 'Dante's Peak': who can keep them separated? Don't even get me started on 'White House Down' and 'Olympus has Fallen'.
Or Armageddon and Deep Impact?

The worst to me are the "King(s) of the Road" since they are long and on both sides of the river:
1. New Kings Road
2. Old Kings Road
3. Kings Road
4. Old Kings Road South
5. Kings Avenue
Another:
1. Baymeadows Road
2. Old Baymeadows Road
Then there are all the broken up streets downtown like Union, Beaver, Adams, etc.
There was, originally, (Old) Beach Road (Atlantic Blvd.) and New Beach Road (Beach Blvd.) as my grandmother used to say, having been around before they were renamed.
No doubt there are hundreds of street names in subdivisions that are just a twist on a core name, i.e. xxxxx lane, street, avenue, road, court, circle, way, etc.
These names aren't confusing. I'll take them over disonnected numbered street grids, featuring a 4th St/Ave NE/NW/SE/SW, etc., any day.
Just yesterday I was mentioning to someone about someone who lived off of Hood Landing Rd, and they thought I was referring to Hood Rd, the road that Mandarin Middle School is on.

Those are not too bad if the whole city is a perfectly aligned square. But nothing is perfect.

You mean Shad Road, which becomes Hood Road, which becomes Hartley Road? :)
GPS is amazing.
I remember in the mid 00's that the city was going to make Old St Aug just St Aug road or something to that effect but it was reversed due to public outcry.
