Title: 5/6/17 FISH KILL on Hogans Creek
Post by: Noone on May 06, 2017, 10:54:40 AM
After participating in the Fight Blight because you know it's right and getting my $20 Jackson wanted to go and check on Hogans Creek at the corner of Market and state by the armory. Just days before the recent rains it was teaming with life. Counted a dozen blue crabs and saw schooling mullet. Then it rained. So about 10 am and watching an outgoing tide it was just full of dead fish. Bass, mullet, brim, eels, blue crabs just floating and piling up in catch areas. WOW!

^Must have been. Called FWC to report as well as SJRK. And Lisa the SJRK checked it out approximately 6 hours later and then texted me. Props for that.
I counted about a 100 fish at the initial discovery. Remember Hogans Creek is tidal. Counted 5 mullet and a brim when I returned between 7and 8 pm. and expanded my check area.

Jacksonville Waterways Commission meeting 5/10/17 at 9:30 am in council chambers.
Have pictures of Fish Kill weekend to share with Commission members.
Can't make this stuff up.
