That was awesome!  I had no idea the cave network was large enough to scuba that far beneath the spring.

Did you see the sign just past the Devils Eye?

Yeah, that was pretty cool.

I saw a pretty cool BBC Horizon episode on sinkholes. In the show, the presenter went to a spring and followed its path above ground, basically walking through the woods and stopping at ponds. While he was doing that, a bunch of divers were swimming through the network below him and he'd see their bubbles. They ended up emerging from another big sinkhole miles away from where they started.

Edit: just found this clip. Not sure if it will work in the US, but it's pretty interesting.

Yeah, I saw the sign.  Common sense to the core but there will still be those that ignore it...  :-)

I had no idea.  Are you talking about this particular cave network beneath Ginnie?  Or the Florida Aquifer in general...

Both... the system is well mapped.  Of course they continue to study it because of its importance and fragility...

It probably seems like I was correcting you (and others), but swear I wasn't. I was just trying to share my knowledge! I got this specific bit of knowledge when I "corrected" my 8th grade science teacher (RIP, Mr Sweetsir) for spelling "Floridian" incorrectly  :-[
