Title: What Happened to Chomp Chomp
Post by: manasia on March 21, 2017, 11:17:04 AM
So, when I was in town visiting this past weekend, I decided to go to Chomp Chomps new location.

Man, it was depressing. It was Saturday, good weather and not a soul there. The food I had was just not what I used to at the downtown location.

I really like the new space too, it is bigger and has a lot to offer; but I am not sure if that area is the best place for a food joint that was once based upon foot traffic.

I still go all the time and have not noticed a difference in food quality. There are times when they are very very busy, so you may have just been at the wrong time.

The only thing I don't like about the changes is they're no longer blasting metal or crazy weird music and there's always people with ~children~ there...

It has been fairly busy in my experience. The completed St Johns Village project should give a nice boost to the restaurants in that immediate area.

Yeah, I live close by and go all the time with my kids (sorry, JohnnyLiar; but, they wouldn't mind the metal or weird music). Sometimes they are slammed, sometimes not so much.  Food is still the same quality, in my opinion. That place is such a valued addition to the neighborhood.

It's ok, it just feels more like a family restaurant, and I really was a big fan of it when it looked sketchy as hell.

I just got back from lunch there and it was delicious.  I too enjoyed the sketchiness of the old location and walking next door to buy a beer, but the food at the new place is as good as it has always been.
