After decades of neglect, the island underneath the Mathews Bridge will once again be properly welcoming visitors to this unique city park when docks and amenities are built by the summer of 2017.

Awesome :)
Camping would be cool. We used to camp on the Spoil islands in Melbourne when I was a kid. Actually, I bet you could camp on exchange island and no one would notice anyway.
Great to see this unique asset being utilized and kudos to Groundworks and the Boy Scouts for contributing. Might this be added as a semiregular stop on the water taxi route?
Anyone know if the island is still infested with rattlesnakes?
I didn't see any the last time I was there (about 6 years ago).
Looked like the dock was done and maybe there was some kind of grand opening when I went by on Sunday. There was a pretty big 40'+ sportfish tied to the dock with a big ass center console rafted to it and at least 10 smaller boats beached by the dock.
Anybody know about the dock access to Intuition? Planning to take the boat out that way in a couple weeks and it would be great to stop at the island and Intuition.
Pretty sure anyone can tie up for a short time at the Metro Park marina...
Thanks BT. I'll give Metro park a try.
That dock for intuition is already there. Not sure what kind of shape it's in but give it a go, why not? Last time I rode by I think it looked a little wompy though ;D
