Poll
Question:
What would be your top two artificial REEFS IN the RIVER choices?
Option 1: Boyer Reef
votes: 2
Option 2: EPB (Environmental Protection Board) Reef
votes: 1
Option 3: Delaney Reef
votes: 2
Option 4: Speckman, Ross, Party Reef
votes: 0
Option 5: Other
votes: 3
There are currently 2 permitted Artificial reefs IN the RIVER south of the Fuller Warren Bridge. There are 4 permits set to expire in 2018 that can create an additional 4 nodes of buzz in an activation plan that will have people wanting to stay on the water. The cost of a reef in the river is $30,000. At the 2/27/17 EPB Board meeting this opportunity was made aware to the Board. There is $400,000 in the account so this can be funded immediately. I would donate a buck to any of the other 3 options.
This issue is part of a subcommittee process of the Jacksonville Waterways Commission that still has to be voted on and moved forward. This issue can be integrated in another project that is underway called the Maritime Management Plan 2013-380. The next significant meetings are on 3/14/17 and start at 9am on the 4th floor of city hall 117 west Duval St. jacksonville, 32202 and are Open to the Public. and the next subcommittee meeting starts at 10:30.
