Title: I-295 widening from the buckman bridge to I-95.
Post by: Megabox on March 08, 2017, 05:37:28 PM
Is the widening of I-295 to add the toll lanes supposed to be completed by fall of this year (2017)? I heard that it apparently was supposed to be completed last fall, but there was a delay and it's still not finished yet.

Looking at the other express lane projects, do they really need tolled express lanes on 95 south of 295?  I drive that 3 times a week, traffic is a breeze once you get past 295.  Express lanes between the avenues & downtown on 95, I can see. (Although I think 95 should just be 4 lanes each way, all free)

I drive it everyday and nope, not necessary. FDOT just wants to give us tolls anyway possible. I'll never be using them.

Those express lanes south of 295 are expected to open in 2031 according to the website. Based on the way St. John's county has grown I'd say it possibly makes sense in that time frame.

A project consisting of widening 1-95 to 8 lanes from International Golf Pkwy to I-295 is mentioned here http://northfloridatpo.com/images/uploads/general/Adopted%20Needs%20Plan.pdf .
