The City of Palm Coast is working to bring a company, which staff cannot yet name, to the area, spurring 1,700 jobs.

The Palm Coast Economic Development office is calling the company Project Continental, and it would bring $20 million of capital investment to the area. It would also create 362 construction jobs and $174 million of local economic activity.

Palm Coast is competing against several other cities for the company's relocation. The company currently has offices in multiple states and will consolidate to one city.

St. Johns County is not vying for the company because one of its offices is already located in Flagler County and its employee wages, roughly $30,000, are too low for St. Johns, according to St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce.

Palm Coast city staff have put together an incentive package to present to the company. It includes mitigating wetland issues associated with the company's property, expediting permitting and processing for construction and ad valorem tax abatement that would amount to $406,000 over 10 years.

Palm Coast City Council will vote on accepting the proposed incentive package Tuesday.

1,700 jobs earning about $30,000. I know that is not the high end of the job market but I know I part of town (norht of mlk pkway or westside that could really use an employer like this.

Jacksonville could benefit immensely, IMO.  More jobs is more jobs.  I family household earning 2 30K salaries would be doing pretty well for itself.
