Title: Hey trash get your seven year old out of Righteous Kill
Post by: JeffreyS on September 13, 2008, 12:50:18 AM
I guess I need to stop going to the O.P. Movie theater.  This is the third rated R movie (rated that way for violence, murder, sex, language, drug use and rape) that I have seen a small child holding his parent's hand on the way out.
My wife has spoken to the management who told us and sounded sincere that they try to discourage it by charging full fare but they open themselves up to discrimination liability if they deny people acting lawfully entrance.  They also try to have a quick leash on kicking people out if the children are fussy and people complain during inappropriate movies.  So I guess I a m complaining more about the people who patronize that theater.  Possibly a local ordinance against people ten or under going into rated R movies is something that could be done.

As you can tell by the time of this post this movie also ended after midnight.  This time at least the Dad looked embarrassed as people noticing them clearly let them know what they thought about it.  I am not sure if anyone should have been more confrontational with the child there but the Emienm wanna be did seem to pick up on why people were making comments.

I think I am going to make false claims about children acting badly if I notice them in inappropriate movies in hopes of getting them kicked out from now on.

True, but it's a fine line you propose to walk. I have an example (perhaps shared by Riverside Gator?) My daughters grew up around museum work, and the local SCV chapter and it's sundry volunteer work in schools and for State and National Parks. By the time they could carry a conversation, they were sitting on a huge homemade quilt, with wooden period toys and dolls, as little "actors" in living history events. They could even work on on one with other kids, explaining how this or that worked. As a result, they also saw many hours of historic films such as GLORY or RIDE WITH THE DEVIL. My oldest had an imaginary N.B. Forrest as a playmate, and youngest "played with Captain J J Dickinson. When the lightning would strike both would giggle run to the room and tell us, "That's JJ's Boys and the 2ND FL flying artillery."

I'm sure those scene of Yankee heads blowing up in the movie Glory, were NOT age correct for either of them. The rape and murder seen in Ride with the Devil wasn't either. So how badly did I damage them?

Both love history
Both will stop the car to do the right thing when seeing a historic site in bad shape
Both are in College
One want's to be a history professor.
The other? History and Acting...

So before you jump, try and understand if this was just a matter of dragging baby along or perhaps something more connected. I would highly recomend the NBC movie, "The Rape of Mrs R's Daughter" to anyone that suspects an active sex life in a young teen girl, or to anyone that suspects abuse. The movie's SHOCK value is to scream between the lines, GET OFF YOUR A-- AND FIGHT!
