Title: Developers plan $9M Northside container terminal

Very weird - first the "Jax signature food" article in the TU, now this.

I was right next to that exact property two days ago, which lies right under the shadow of the coal plants. Is someone from bizjournal following me?? ;)

Anyway, first it will be a container yard and then a cross-dock facility. Will they be a stop on the train line behind it?

for it to be a viable intermodal terminal there should be access to the rail lines

^ Ditto.  I'm sure they will be utilizing the rail lines.

Sounds like another great addition to the exploding JaxPort.

You think you could maybe stroll by the Shipyards property? It would be great if there were some good news coming from that place, too.

QuotePort growth expands to Nassau Co.

NASSAU COUNTY â€" Nassau County is taking advantage of the growth at Jacksonville’s port.

Officials and business leaders plan to double the amount of industrial land around a planned railroad bypass and then make three times that amount of land available for future industrial expansion.

In late August, the Nassau County Commission took the first step toward rezoning a 200-acre parcel in Yulee and a nearly 150-acre parcel at U.S. Highway 17 and Interstate 95 for industrial use. If approved by the state, the county’s usable industrial land will increase from about 250 acres to about 483 acres.

The decision to rezone that land was inspired in part by the lack of available land and by CSX Corp.’s (NYSE: CSX) recently announced plan to connect its Northeast Jacksonville rail spur to its main line along U.S. 1, creating a bypass for rail cargo from one new port terminal under construction and another that is planned.
