Sail Jacksonville 2007 Photo Tour

On the weekend of May 4 - 6, the City of Jacksonville hosted the Sail Jacksonville event on the Northbank Riverwalk. This maritime festival highlighted the essential roles the St. Johns River and the maritime community have played in the history of Jacksonville and was anchored by the visit of several Tall Ships to the downtown riverfront.

Nice photos. Too bad Jacksonville doesnt play on its maritime history and tradition more. A greatly expanded maritime museum with a few retired Navy ships would be a great start.
Great collection of pictures. I agree that it's unfortunate that we still don't take advantage of our unique maritime history and tradition.
This was a great event from the fireworks to the ships it was fun to see. Saturday was a beautiful day to be Downtown! if only I had a boat!

How come there are no pictures or mention of the Schooner Freedom the only sail boat from NE Florida (St. Augustine)? They do daily tours from the marina next to Santa Maria, and are the friendliest people I met that weekend. They also put on the best show during the pirate battle.
