As many know, the Pilot Pens that are used in offices and homes across the world are made-in-Jacksonville. The company just announced the Corporation located in CT is moving the whole show to JAX! This may be some fallout from the Port Expansion, as it is a division of a Tokyo, Corp. but the good news is, another giant is coming home to roost. They mentioned numbers like 4.7 Million expansion? and 400+ Million total investment? This is a BILLION DOLLAR company. Also dozens of new and good jobs here at home. QuoteCorporate Facts

Excellent news indeed. (http://www.v6performance.net/forums/images/smilies/biggthumpup.gif)
Any idea of where, if at all, they fall on the Fortune 500 list? Fortune 1000?
Looks like the parent in Japan is WAY over the bar on the index, but I couldn't find them in the Fortune listings. Certainly they rank, but I just don't know where.
Looks like the US and maybe western "world" opperations are heading our way...

Looks like Jacksonville is finally becoming an international city with real decision making offices! First Deutsche Bank and now Pilot. I can't wait to see even more international offices find their homes in Jacksonville.
It will take decades and more universities to shed our reputation as an uneducated back-office town that companies shy away from. There is nothing wrong with back-office jobs. They are very important and still require skilled workers and the more of those the merrier, but it's also nice to land some headquarter and regional level offices every now and then.
In this economy, let's take anything we can get!

um, ok.

Dios mÃo, éste es pluma maravillosa. Otro producto maravilloso de Jacksonville
God My, This is pen wonderful. Another product wonderful of Jacksonville (see it won't work)

Do you see your problem Midway? You CAN NOT translate languages word to word, please try again giving us the meaning by meaning Japanese script and I shall be happy to fix you up. Or as they say in Japan: 私に印象づけなかった スペイン語を話すことができるか。 おやすみなさい中間私の親愛なる友人。

Yeah, HA! I was just messing with you, but language is a really messy thing. Nothing worse then being 200 miles up a canyon in the middle of BFE Colombia, and have armed strangers come walking up speaking a mix of Native-Hispanic-Spanglish. One gets the feeling, "I better get this RIGHT the first time!" Nothing ever came of it, but it did make me question everything I thought knew about anything in other languages... Sort of like "What did JESUS REALLY say..."

Good news for Jax.
^^ Excellent news for Jax. Can't wait to hear a more detailed description on the impact of this move. Any idea where they are building/renovating offices?

Somewhere near Beach/St Johns Bluff.
QuoteThe pen maker has manufactured and distributed its products from a 275,000-square-foot facility in the East Park Business Center at St. Johns Bluff Road and Beach Boulevard since the mid-1990s and already owns the land where the new 50,000-square-foot adjacent headquarters will be.
- I think the actual street is Regent Drive or Blvd.

Did I miss an article? Anywho, thanks for the info.
In years to come, many CT-NY area companies will be moving to Jacksonville.
Ideally you'd like to see Jax be the actual headquarters of a US based export, with OUR companies getting planted overseas, but more manufacturing jobs in the area is a plus no matter who owns it.
Is this mere speculation or do you know something specific? Just curious.

Well I wish we could now get the Pilot Penn tennis tournament here also.
QuoteWell I wish we could now get the Pilot Penn tennis tournament here also.
That may not be a stretch in the future considering that the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Amelia Island have now moved to Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra & changed sponsors (MPS Group) -
