Title: Shorsteins slams Angela
Post by: uptowngirl on August 22, 2008, 05:20:02 PM
If he fired her for not doing the job then she may actually be electable, because as has become crystal clear Shorestein is hasn't done ANYTHING in years. Why would anyone think his slamming Angela would be a good thing LOL!

I agree, and being fired for insubordination can encompass so much and nothing at all...it's kind of a catch-all

I didn't think it was a good move on Plotkins behalf for Shorstein to do that commercial, and I it's not like it cleared up the issue as to why Corey was fired. I also feel that it didn't shed anything positive on Shorstein or Plotkin....and would prefer that candidates merely promote their own merits and discuss their goals...instead of working so hard at trying to undermine their opponent.

Most people are saying that his manner and word choice made him sound like a male chauvinist douchebag.

Its a pity.  I havent really had much contact with Shorstein for the past few years, but he used to be such a charming forward thinking kind of guy.  It would be a sad thing if that changed.

Shorstein didn't change...and that's why he endorses Plotkin...he is the forward-looking candidate...and yes, you could read that as meaniong he is the more progressive candidate (even though he is also a Republican).

1)  I thought this was a non-partisan race.
2)  Notwithstanding this, I thought Plotkin was a Democrat and Corey a Republican.

Are the above not true?

no, they're both republicans...at least that's what I recall it saying on my ballot

Its not a non-partisan, but as there is no democrat to oppose them in Nov, the primary becomes an open primary. This is a little known loophole that some of the more predominant politicians have used to their advantage. A few years ago Corrine Brown had a primary opponent in Aug, but no November opponent. She knew that the primary would become an open primary, there by causing her some heartburn, so she had her good friend (Palatka city council woman I believe) have her son register as a write in candidate for the NOV race, there-by closing out the primary to non-dems, and ensuring her to yet another wasted term in congress (did I mention she has one of the worst attendance records in congress missing almost 10% of her votes http://www.govtrack.us/congress/person.xpd?id=400048&tab=votes)

Be that as it may, she closed a large chunk of her constituents out of the election by maneuvering to keep them from being able to vote for their elected congressional representation.

I like Corrine Brown.   Its too bad that the springfield leadership has been so adversarial and anti Corrine.  She is their only US representative after all.

I don't like her; she has done nothing for our neighborhood. In fact I would go so far as to say she has gone out of her way to do nothing for our neighborhood. She doesn't show up for work, she takes "gifts" (normally known to you or I as BRIBES) and now she uses city resources to help herself instead of her more needy constituents. She is parasite, and I am not in any way shape or form Springfield Leadership. In fact I am not a JAX native so maybe that is why it was so easy to understand her for what she is so quickly;)

I also don't care for her, nor her politics....it's been said that she's done so much...personally, I fail to see that.

Is Pat Lockett-Felder related to Corrine Brown?

I will always love her for standing up for the truth during the 2000 election. It took guts, and she serves the rest of her district pretty well.

Truth?  So she acknowledged that Bush won Florida in 2000?

My only problem is that Angela made this whole thing the center of her campaign, implicity or explicitly. She talks all the time about "standing up for truth in the office" and being fired for her "standing up".

Shorestein had every right to answer the charges made against him in the public square. If someone was fired from the same office they as asking to lead, the public should know why.

Too many in the 4th Circuit just wanted to listen to Angela's version and stick their fingers in their ears and shout la la la la la la and scream "lowball".

With that said, Congrats to Mrs. Corey, she is the new State Attorney, we must now hold her to her promises.

Respectfully,
The Squid

Well Harry's explanation didn't clear up a thing....the 'reasons' he gave were way too vague for anyone to have a better understanding....and clearly, the voters expressed that by electing her by such a margin.

As I understand, he was quite specific and provided documentation at a press conference. Probably in response to her "Documentation" ad.

Plotkin was a victim of the times a bit as well - citizens are somewhat fed up after all of Peyton's and the Council's shanannigans.  Any incumbent had an advantage here I think.  Too bad the sheep are too blind to oust the emporer who has no clothes on.  Good for Angela though!!

And Angela slam dunks Plotkin.

Harry should have stayed the hell out of it, unless he was really hoping to help angela.

Yes she did!!!!

I worked with both Angela and Jay when I was a SAO employee and they were both qualified for this position. Kinda happy Angela won though, specifically because of that video from Harry.

Littlepage and Mark Woods say the same things in their columns today.  It was bad to be an incumbent.  I wish Peyton had been running.

Shorstein is the incumbent.

by that logic, McCain would not be considered the "incumbent" then either, right?

and the moderates and the anti war POW MIA conservatives and the right wing.

All of them are identifying McCain with Bush.

He's not of course.

And neither was Plotkin.
plotkin was shorestein's hand picked boy, that tv commerical is what did plotkin in
