Well this one time at band camp...........
**Smacks forehead**
Should've seen that one coming.
I've got nothing compelling. I live in a part of town that doesn't flood. No downed trees, no power outage, just lots of wind and rain hitting my window at nearly a 90-degree angle keeping me up half the night last night.
Apparently the 'without-power' numbers are down significantly from earlier this morning? JEA is on it, apparently.
i'll post some pics later, but massive flooding in the backyard (goodbys creek). we usually have 3 feet of clearance under the sanchez rd bridge...it is now less than 12 inches as best i can tell. had gotten my truck stuck down by the creek 2 days ago...was just going to leave it (and the jet ski) there. fortunately a friend came by to help me move them out of the mud. thank God we did - the truck would be under water now and the jet ski would be floating. also, i had to build an emergency "gutter system" with a large plastic tarp because of massive flooding (and very bad drainage grade) in the front yard - did all that in the storm last night and today. pics forthcoming.
Is San Marco flooding news? I'm not sure, but that's what i've got going on around me. I couldn't even get out of the neighborhood this morning, every road was literally flooded or closed off. Hendricks - 2 feet of water. Naldo - a river basically. San Marco square had some pretty deep water going on, blocked off by JSO. Lasalle and Landon were flooded as well. My VW hatchback didn't hold up so well when I attempted the first time. I basically road the sidewalks so I wouldn't stall in the flood waters, but turned around because it wasn't worth it.
I'm about to go take a 2nd look and see if the flood waters have retreated.
Springfield is flooding.

Listening to the EOC Press Conference, he mentioned to people not to call - they know they have a lot of main feeders out and those are the priorities.
Not that I disagree with him, but a hell of a comment.

The issue is that it's not just rainwater, it's that the river is overflowing its banks.
The only way we're getting out of here is on foot, the water's still too deep to safely drive through, especially in a car.
I think we're alright where we're at, right behind jack rabbits. It's the escape routes that are flooded.
Hope eveyone else is being safe. stay dry!
Saw these pictures of Springfield on the SPAR Forum:

Wish I could take credit but alas I am not moving out of the house!
As we can see the pumps in San Marco have not helped them any, I think putting back the ponds, and cleaning up hogans, putting back in the mini lochs would help, and I believe soemone said they also used to generate power from the tide, but not sure it would fix all the issues. People are stil going to put trash down the storm drains, and that has been a big issue for street flooding away from the parks.
It feels like i'm on house arrest here with the road closures. Plus, none of the nearby stores are open. This is why they tell you to prepare!
I took a picture of that tow-truck plowing through high waters right before it got stuck @ Landon & San Marco. I should've gotten another one of the tow-truck towing another tow truck.
There's also one of those monster swat vehicles roaming around, with the jacked up tires.
On Flagler just off Lasalle, there's a 20-30 foot water oak tree that fell onto some powerlines and hit the bed of a pickup truck, all while just missing the front of a house. I have a pic of that too i'll share shortly. The neighbor I spoke with said the owner of the truck was trying to help tow someone out of the floodwaters, after he got them to safety he parked his truck on the side of the street for a moment and that's when the tree fell over, striking the truck with one of it's branches. The tree is currently being suspended by power lines about 5 feet off the ground.
I'm guilty of sight-seeing obviously, but I got a little worried when i saw so many people walking in the flood waters near downed powerlines. I'm pretty sure the current can travel a small distance through water.
That's all I have really.
p.s.
fay sucks!
