Although a very beautiful train and I'm looking forward to the line's completion. I'd say this is something that should've been done ages ago. I'm almost embarrassed that the U.S. is so behind in commuter rail. Something like this would do wonders for Jacksonville. But, I digress...
Looks really nice.
Very nice - thanks for the picks Finehoe. Does anyone know if they are going have any type of group seating? In what little rail travel I have done in Europe they have seats that face each other with a little table. Makes it nice for families or business people traveling together to be able to socialize or get some work done.
Kerry, yes they do have that style of seating as well.

And already I have friends complaining that this is tree-hugging socialist nonsense.
Some people just have to be left behind. They can catch up later.

In due time....
The best thing a Jaxson can do is hope this train is a success. If it is a success, Jax will directly benefit.

Interesting. This rail system is about as privately funded as a transportation project can be.

Generally speaking, people who complain about tree-hugging socialist nonsense don't let facts stand in the way of their opinions.

I flew back to Miami from Spain this week and would have definitely use the train to get down to Miami. I can't wait for this route to get started.

IF any of us truly hope to see passenger rail return to our Terminal, and many here espoused belief in compact niching, synergy, not perpetuating the past errors, then might a bit more patience pay dividends?
The near future fate of Coastline Drive demo, new Flex Field use, MetPark / "Shipyards" possible swap may quickly produce THE hinge pin needed for an even better plan view versus living with a less than stellar, late-but-still-premature "Center".
Dissapointing to see a ploy with unfunded never to be built frills in a splashy rendering.
We don't need to be almost as ok as LA or Miami.
If we are this late to the scene, and our beltway signage tells us we are America's Logistics Capital, let's get this right.
Next stop, WestWorld.

Here's a link to some Brightline coverage and how it potentially impacts Jax:

IMO, Jax's best chance at any passenger rail service returning downtown is if Brightline's first phase is a success, encouraging them to extend up the FEC into the old terminal. That's something that can easily be operational within 4 or 5 years. Commuter rail is a pipe dream if we're going to compete for federal funding and who know's what's going to go on with Amtrak.
