Renew Arlington is an officially sanctioned effort to reverse decades of decline in the Arlington Area. In order to qualify for funding to improve the area, the City had to conduct a "Finding of Necessity" study, Basically a documentation of why the area is turning into a smoldering junk heap at the bottom of a hell hole so that the funding mechanisms that go into city redevelopment can start moving. Otherwise, mostly good article. Arlington is very important to a strong downtown and city ad a whole. I've said it here a thousand times, there's million dollar homes there with good hard-working people. The area needs a bit of a boost.
Arlington has never grabbed me, but it is convenient. You're downtown or over in San Marco/Riverside in 10-15 minutes. The beaches aren't too far either. With housing prices going up a lot of people in my income bracket are being priced out of Riverside & San Marco. I could see it turning around over the next decade if it continues offering affordable housing and maybe some new restaurants/shops.
Fair enough. I do recall your writings of downtown, but I was thinking more about main Street. But I take your word for it, you haven't lied to me yet.
University North of Arlington Rd and cesery North of Arlington Rd are areas with some cool "king street" potential.
What are the thoughts about the section 8 housing in the area of lake Lucina? Is it to blame for the blight?
