In case you missed it, the casual Mexican restaurant and bar La Nopalera has re-opened in San Marco, at 1434 Hendricks Ave, immediately adjacent to Panera Bread and inside an old City of Jacksonville utility building. The space is a massive improvement for the family friendly and popular San Marco establishment and one of the best reuse concepts in the area, which has become a pretty trendy block or two, as the new Bold Bean opened just a short walk down the street. V Pizza and Aardwolf Brewery are all very close by.

Did they relocate their cockroaches and rats or are they going to start breeding a new batch on-site?
I know they have name recognition, but it seems to mostly be bad. Why not name this restaurant something new?
I'm just glad that they have renovated the building. I'll go at least once just to check out the new space.
From tonight... busy as ever. Pretty cool they have some outdoor seating. Walking back towards the square it really clicked how great this stretch of Hendricks is becoming. Every block has people doing something.

Pretty sure that's Adam White sitting at the bar.
HA!
That's pretty nice-looking, I have to admit.
I recognize a few people in this photo as well. That's one thing I liked about the San Marco lanop, you'd always see someone from the neighborhood on any given night. Burrito Gallery workers, bar/club owners. Always had a nice local feel to it. Can't say the same for the other locations.
I hope they keep it looking like this without all the typical tacky signage that you find in all the other LeNop locations.

Now that you mention it, it looked as if they had all their neon signs that used to be behind the bar or in the windows clustered on the brick wall in the corner. I wonder if the landlord won't let them hang them in the window, but in any case it looked cool. Dare I say la nop picked up some ambiance on their 2 block journey.
Where is a Menu? Facebook page? Yelp? Something?

Is it the same ol' menu, or has the $4.99 Speedy Gonzales gone up to a high class $9.99.
Don't they get a new name with this building?

Puerta Vallarta
Puerta Vallarta was a cover/temp name. I asked one of the servers if it was going to be called Puerta Vallarta when they moved and he said no, that it would still be La Nop.

I have not memorized the menu (perhaps, surprisingly) but it seemed the same. No obvious price increases at least.
