Two days after he was defeated for re-election, Public Defender Matt Shirk awarded raises to 11 employees that will cost taxpayers just under $15,000 a month.

"Administrative assistant Robert Foster Jr., who had his monthly salary increase from $3,250 to $6,083."

This is unbelievable.  Robbie Foster is maybe one of the worst humans I have ever known.  He has this job because his dad is a powerful judge in Nassau and he can't get any other real job.  He is the definition of partisan hack and it's ridiculous Shirk has him on staff to begin with.

I'm no fan of Matt Shirk, but an invective attack on some administrative assistant from behind the veil of anonymity is pretty low.

Regardless of opinions on the person, what Administrative Assistant with 5 years of experience deserves $73k a year??  That's ludicrous!

My concern is what type of defense their clients will receive between now and next year.

I have lost all respect for Matt Shirk.

That implies you had some respect for him to begin with.  ;D
