Murray Hill: Neighborhood Photo Tour

Defined by Interstate 10, Casset Avenue, Park Street and Roosevelt Blvd,  Murray Hill is another historic neighborhood in the midst of gentrification.  Platted in 1906,  incorporated as a separate city in 1916 and annexed by Jacksonville in 1925, the neighborhood consists of a mix of commercial and residential structures with a diverse collection of architectural details, making it stand out amongst the urban core neighborhoods.

I am a new first time homeowner to the Lakeshore area of Jacksonville, and was wondering if we could add this neighborhood to your website.  I am a recent archtiecture grad from the University of Florida and am in the process of remodeling, restoring a classic 1950's midcentury home in Lakeshore Terrace.  I feel this area has a historical significance in its own way, not as classic as Riverside, Avondale or Murryhill, but significant nonetheless, as a Modern Classic American Post War neighborhood.  I think you would be very surprised how this neighborhood has been goign through a rejuvenation in the last few years, and these classic 1950's homes are surprisingly well kept within this well kept pocket of Lakeshore.

Eventually we plan to expose most of the interesting neighborhoods and areas of town with photo tours.   While I can't promise a date right now, Lakeshore is definately on the list.

My wife and I are closing on a house on Trask St. tomorrow or Monday.  I am very excited to be part of that neighborhood.  Moon River Pizza, Edgewood Ave Bakery the pool hall and so many other great neighborhood fixtures.

I live between McDuff ave and the park pictured at the end. It's called Pewers Park. Just after I moved to the area they took down a bunch of trees in the center and put a nice pound in that a creek flows into and out of. Aside from a little bit of trash finding its way in, it's really a good feature.

We've had a Murray Hill neighborhood tour since this one.  The Dreamette was mentioned:

Well we've lived in the new hood for about 5 months now and I can say we love it.  There are lots of kids for our girls to play with.  There doesnt seem to be a real crime problem and I LOVE the sound of the train horns.  If anyone wants an opinion on moving to this area I would be happy help!
