QuoteThe Jacksonville Port Authority and Florida Department of Transportation are applying for a $24 million federal TIGER grant for a project that could create 700 jobs.
The project, which will place rail and gate infrastructure at Talleyrand Marine Terminal so Diversified Port Holdings can export materials, is being submitted by FDOT on Jaxport's behalf.
The 700 jobs will include manufacturing jobs — a wood pellet manufacturing plant will be built somewhere in Florida — and the logistics and port jobs to bring the cargo from the site to ship out of Jacksonville.
