Considering the constant fatalities, rampant pollution, and exorbitant costs of ownership, there is no better word to characterize the car's dominance than insane.

Are you familiar with the concept of 'Progress Traps'?  The automobile is the second biggest one ever created by man (the first being debt-based money).  Not by accident, the two are connected.  We need debt to have money in circulation and the second biggest generator of debt is the automobile.  It is quite the system we set up for ourselves.

Anyhow, have you seen the automobile episode of Adam Ruins Everything?
