Title: Riverkeeper challenges dredging permits
Post by: thelakelander on April 04, 2016, 07:49:21 AM
QuoteThe St. Johns Riverkeeper today filed a petition for a formal administrative hearing against the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in regards to dredging.

The petition is in response to a February 19 notice of intent issued by the DEP to grant the Army Corps of Engineers an environmental resource permit and a variance for dredging 13 miles of the St. Johns River.

The Riverkeeper has said that the dredging will have significant negative impacts on the health of the river, and filing the petition is part of combatting those adverse effects.
