QuoteA six-story building that would include apartments, hotel rooms and retail is in the works for Jacksonville Beach. It's planned for the former Dolphin Depot property on First Street.
A similar project was planned there in 2014, but was put on hold. Now it's back with the city of Jacksonville Beach for permitting. It goes before the City Council Monday night.

The developer is Dolphin Depot LLC, led by managing partner Joseph Eckstein. The same partnership, under KAE Apartments, has built several apartment buildings in Jacksonville Beach and has others in the works for A.C. Skinner Parkway.

The plan for First Street is this: A six-story building with 2,500 square feet of retail and parking on the ground floor, parking garage on the second, 54 apartments and 36 extended-stay hotel rooms on floors 3 to 6.

Sounds like a wonderful project. I like the mix of apartments with extended stay hotel rooms. Retail and parking within the building's footprint!
