Time to start the NCAA Tourney discussion, but with Florida, UNF and Florida State all slated for the NIT, I might have to make an NIT thread instead?
FYI: Austin Peay, whom UNF defeated @ home earlier this year was the 8th seed in the Ohio Valley Conference, got the automatic berth to the NCAA Tourney by defeating UT-Martin in the OVC tourney final.

not likely to happen, but FSU (and UF) can make it in with a deep run in their conference tourney...that said, the other half of my alma maters just won the American Conference regular season and is sitting relatively comfortable at 20-10 (having won 9 of their last 11).

Temple has their work cut out for them. Are you going to Orlando to watch?

indeed I am
NCAA will be announcing the the brackets here shortly.
tufsu1, your Temple team made it it appears. #10 seed.
FGCU got tossed into the First Four in the East against Farleigh Dickinson.
Based on their RPI, this was not a surprise.
Michigan is a total surprise, tossed into the First Four mid-tier play in.
While they have a tough schedule, I didn't think they were that good.
Stonybrook at #13 seed is weird. That game against Vermont, they did come back, but I wasn't impressed with their offense at all.
Some of the seedings are kind of foobar to me, but if UNF had won their tourney, they probably would have faced Xavier or Michigan State in the first round.
Austin Peay winning the OVC tourney would have pushed up the Ospreys, but its all academic now.
SEC didn't do so well. TA&M and Vandy. Kentucky.
But South Carolina's poor non-conference schedule compared to Vandy's seems to have caught up with them.

The SEC was complete and utter garbage this year. Even worse than most years, which is pretty bad. I think they are lucky to get three teams in, probably should have only been Texas A&M and Kentucky. South Carolina had one of the biggest jokes of a schedule of all time for a power 5 team and didn't deserve to get in. I just laughed when they started off the season 15-0 or whatever it was with half their wins over community colleges. I'm not even convinced A&M is that good, and we shall see about Kentucky if they go up against UNC.

Go Canes!
I think Miami will dominate FL collegiate hoops for the foreseeable future. They've got a really good team this year and what looks like a fairly favorable tournament draw.
Virginia grad here. Surprised we got the #1 seed over Michigan State, but a Chicago regional against teams like MSU, Purdue, and Iowa State doesn't make for much of home-court advantage. Here's hoping we can at least make it to the Elite 8 and avenge those losses to Sparty the last two tournaments.
It is difficult to understand MSU @ #2, but not UVA @ #1 (I think Oregon's seeding is the headscratcher). I certainly am rooting for UVA to shake MSU off its back. I like the Hoos' path to the regional finals and I think they'll match up well w/ the Spartans.

Oregon won the Regular Season title and the Tournament as well. Been playing well down the stretch, the committee usually rewards that.
Don't forget JU Women find out tonight who they play in the NCAA women's tournament.

MSU grad here (and Florida, but let's not talk about Florida). I think the committee purposefully set the seeding up this way. Both UVA and MSU had similar schedules with similar results, main difference was MSU won the B1G tournament. UVA had a win over UNC, but MSU had a win over Kansas, so most people thought it would be MSU with the 1 seed . . . . buuuuuuuut . . . . the regionals are in Chicago which gives MSU an advantage. So maybe they figured, hey lets give UVA the 1 seed since MSU will have the advantage in the regionals if they both get that far. You know they wanted both of them in the same region after the last two years. With that said though, I still don't understand how MSU was ranked number 2 in the country at the end of the season, then went on to win the B1G tourney over some quality teams, them somehow slipped out of the top four? Mystifying if you ask me. Oregon won the conference and the PAC 12 tournament so hard not to give them a 1 seed. In my opinion it should have gone 1 Kansas, 2 UNC, 3 MSU, 4 Oregon. UVA just missing at 5. But I don't think it matters and won't be losing any sleep over it.

They do stuff like this every year. People get so worked up who is #1 vs #2 or #8/9 vs #7/10. Just win baby!

Not sure I agree. They are a very seasoned team this year, while both UF and FSU are young.

It will be interesting to see.
I think Jim Larranaga has proven himself a superior coach who consistently maximizes available talent. Now he is getting blue chip recruits.
At FSU, despite recent great recruiting, Hamilton hasn't yet demonstrated the ability to put it all together like Larranaga.
UF is (hopefully) rebuilding. I suspect it will take awhile.
FGCU crushed Fairleigh Dickinson in the first four tonight.
The Atlantic Sun moves on!
FGCU is clearly ascending right now as UNF was descending for some reason. You can't play your worst ball at the end of the season.
Sorry Tufsu... been watching Iowa melt down over the past month...Temple played well.
I also came here to offer my regrets.
Temple today, FSU the other night.
Glad I am not a Michigan State fan. About 99.995% of all the brackets in the world just got busted.

FCGU played UNC for a half and got their shorts blown off thereafter. I was impressed with Providence grad Terrell on FGCU. He was showing no fear in his penetration dribble.
Unfortunately the game was very much like many A-Sun games against power conferences. Tight first half followed by a second half blowout.

Well, I am an MSU fan and I didn't even watch the game because I didn't think it would be worth it to take time out of my busy work day. Apparently the MSU players didn't think it was worth while to show up and play defense either. 90 points by Middle Somewhere State???? Sad day for Spartans and an unfortunate way for Valentine to go out. Luckily Izzo's best recruiting class ever is coming in next year but that won't numb the pain of watching the rest of the tourney without my Spartans in it :'(

Caesars Vegas Sportsbook reported a $1 Million profit on the MSU loss today.
A lot of MSU fans lost money very quickly.
One bookie reported an MSU fan put down $1500 for MSU to win the tourney today. Ouch.
Gotta love that half court heave by UNI.

The ACC has 6 teams in the Sweet 16....as their slogan goes, "Better Bring Your A Game"
I'm I the the only one that could really care less about the rest of these games (I used to be hooked to these games)? Hell, seemed like it was more fun earlier on with the Cinderellas in there. With the arenas being half full most of the games, seems like fans are very apathetic also. I heard a report saying that they are having to need help from corporations to try to fill the stands (obviously to no avail). Seems like these NCAAB games are similar to what happened with the downgrade of most of the college football bowl games.
My Canes had a good run but to be honest I prefer the NBA. It's simply a more well played game.

I can understand why.
Personally, I prefer to watch NCAA Division II mens BB. There is a lot of talent there and there are lots of upper classman playing, since the "one and done" crowd wont be found here.
More upperclassman, better court discipline, more respect for the game. These guys play because they love it, they dont care about any pro careers or they wouldnt be here.

I ref a kids league and I have parents nagging me on how many steps their kids can take cuz they see it on TV.
It was worse when Ewing played for the Knicks. Kids wanted to take 3.5 steps to the rim.
Then Allen Iverson came along with his underhanded cross dribble which is a ball carry everywhere else in the world.
Lately I had a parent nag me for calling travel when a kid picked up a rolling ball and slid down the floor with his feet in the air. Hello? No you cant call a TO after sliding down the floor for 6 feet!
Too much player favoritism and ungrateful talent roaming the NBA floor. Makes it no fun to watch.
